When I was a kid, I remembered my 1st bicycle, it was all pink with training wheels. Yes, it was pink all the bicycle for kids delivered for my father’s store was all pink. So you had no choice. but, I remembered I did not care about the colour. I remembered it was fun with training wheels or not. For me as a kid it was a “motocross dirt bike”.
My 2nd bike was a blue bmx bicycle, yes. from my father’s store again, he had noticed that the pink bike was already too small for me. And yes, I am already around 7 years old as I remember. It was an ordinary bike, no aluminum parts or anything hi-end. It was just a blue steel bicycle with brand-less tires. But it was fun. Racing around with friends who had rusty bicycles, doing some off road trail made by us kids of the block.
My 3rd bicycle was a somewhat better version of my previous bicycle, one day my father just gave away the bicycle for someone you needs it for transport. And just bought me a new one with now alloy parts it was metallic blue. With now branded tires, chrome body and aluminum pedals. It was the time when I did more extreme stunts on bikes as I grew older.
My 4rth bicycle was something new to me. Yes, my father gave away my bmx metallic bicycle again to his employee for easy commute. Back to bicycle, it was a time when I was in higher grade school, well quite busy in school and not much time to do those extreme bmx stuff. Then I start missing my bicycle, also told my mom about it. A few weeks later I remember there it was. I woke up...went down stairs, slowly as I stretch my arms. It was a big store so I saw the bicycle far away. Unfamiliar with it’s looks, it’s metallic green with Japanese characters and the decals says “Ridge Deer” those big 26 inch tires, viper branded wheels, had Shimano all over the brakes and wow, it has gears? It was the first time I laid my eyes on a mountain bike. It was a totally different ride but still the biking fun and I mean more fun.
Those were the days when bicycles are fun. You just bike for fun..
I notice today that almost anyone I encounter talks too much about how good their bicycle is. Steel, Aluminum,Carbon and Titanium. I am not ranting about it. Since yes, it is really good to have a very reliable and durable bike. But, sometimes we forgot about the days where we enjoy bicycling stress free and all bicycles were equal. And it was fun.
